{ Labor Day Weekend }

All right – another extended holiday weekend!   Have to just love that!  I am actually going to spend two of the three days working at the fire station this weekend.  You know, with three babies on the way – a guys got to get all the overtime that he can!!!

Just the whole word “labor” got me thinking today about how important it is to love what you do and do what you love.  This may be more evident of photographers – because the love of the “art” can quickly get covered by the everyday running of the business.  I made a few mistakes when we first started our business – and I easily mis-prioritized many things.  I am working very hard now to remind myself that I love what I do and I am so very fortunate to do what I love.  I think when you are doing something from the heart – it shows – and people recognize that.

I love being a photographer.
I love taking photos.
I love seeing people smile.
I love black and white.
I love that you are still reading this!

I don’t love sales tax paperwork.
I don’t love 100+ degree days.
I don’t love being behind on anything.
I don’t love to disappoint anyone.

………………..<<< Shout Out Over >>>………………..

We did an awesome candid photo session last weekend and these kiddos did GREAT!  I think that they truly had a great time – now how many times do you think that actually occurs?  We ran, skipped, hid behind columns and even played in the water – such a fun time!  I can honestly say, I loved what we did!  Great job kids!

{ Best Monday This Year )

Yes…it’s that time again!  Back to school!  The kids are back in school starting today – whew, we survived another summer, although that isn’t exactly true – we did have the whole Sea World on the Sun trip a few weeks backs that left us all scarred!  All in all, it was a great summer, with a lot of great things happening and a lot of change.  This time around – the change is mostly good!

We had a great, but busy weekend, as usual.  Saturday I was shooting a wedding again with the Photogenic Images gal, Dori.  I always have such a great time shooting with them and it is always fun!  We also did a couple portrait sessions on Sunday.  Check out the photos below – some are from last weekends session and the last two are sneak peaks from the wedding this weekend.

{ Week #10 Ultrasound }

It’s hump day of week # 10 and we just got back from the first doctor’s appointment since we found our that there were three babies instead of two!  Everything is looking pretty good and as the doctor put it, right now we are just on “auto-pilot”.  There just isn’t much that we can do right now – and we can’t really know too much either about what is going on.  We did see three little heartbeats and all three were moving around quite a bit!  The ultrasound photos are not that great – the babies are still pretty small and the tech told us that as they get bigger and bigger that the photos would get better.  The only problem with that is we still do not want to know the sex of any of them – so we’re not sure how much longer we’ll even be allowed to see what the tech is seeing!

We really do want it to be a surprise…we have known everything to this point…it was all planned, when to take the shots, when to do the transfer, etc… so this is our great surprise to everyone.

We’re still marinating in thoughts of three….wow, who could have imagined!  Many things have changed around the house.  The down stairs “craft room”, will now become the nursery and the room upstairs that was going to be the nursery is now going to be the “craft room”.  But honestly – who is gonna have time for crafts?!?  Alex and I think it should be a “man cave” for boys 12+ ONLY!

Just a thought!

{ Big Week Ahead }

Hey bloggers…many of you have “bookmarked” our blog so that you can come directly to it, and we love that, but take a second and visit the main page again, www.EricaJoyce.com.  We just completed the first phase of our new site design and we’d love to hear some feedback on what you think!  We originally were going to wait until we had the entire design phase completed before we “launched” the new site, but since we were stunned with some amazing news this past week – we realized that time is NOT on our side!  In the future we will be replacing a lot of the existing photos on the site and galleries with newer, “tweaked” images to make the direction of our business.

Many, many things will be changing come 2009!  We had plans to fine-tune our business this winter, but with our triplet news we decided that there would be no better time to launch our new direction than Jan 1st 2009!  More to come on all that stuff later this year!

OK, for the IVF gang that pops in here for an update: we go back to the doctor on Wed this week.  This will be the 1st appointment we’ve had since the news about the triplets.  We were SO shocked from last weeks adventure that we didn’t really have an opportunity to ask any questions – and we are hoping this week for a good ultrasound photo for the blog!  So…check back later this week for more news!

We had two great sessions this weekend…and for the 1st time in several months, we did a session outside!  We really love shooting outside, but it has been so stinkin hot that nobody could stand it.  Anyhow – we met up at the park in the morning (9am) and it was already pretty warm out, but not too incredibly bad!  Here’s a few teasers from our park adventure!  Hope everyone has a great week!

Jake~

{ IVF UPDATE – Don’t Miss This One }

Um, yeah – so just when you think that things couldn’t get much crazier than they already are – BAM!!! It comes and hits you like a freight train running full speed!

Erica woke-up yesterday morning and knew right away that something wasn’t right…(I’ll save you all the details), so she called her doctor, who thankfully has his office no less more than 5 minutes from our house. After speaking with his nurse they decided that it would be in her best interest to come on into the office so they could see what was going on. So in a frantic attempt to get dressed and gather her things – Erica heads out the door at 8:15am.

The nurse gets her all set-up and preps her for another ultrasound. Doctor comes in – they do the ultrasound, both babies are looking fine and doing well. So at this point there is a bit of confusion as to why Erica is having these symptoms. So the doctor decided that even though the babies aren’t that big yet – he wants to do an ultrasound from the outside of her stomach.

Scanning – there’s baby #1…every thing looks good…..and here’s baby #2….everything looks good here as well, hmm. [Nurse] “Doctor – does that look like two heads right there?” [Doctor] “It sure does”. Congratulations a THIRD time!!!”

TRIPLETS!

So apparently, after our IVF transfer where they place the embryos into the uterus, one of them decided to divide once again. So we now have 1 set of identical twins and 1 fraternal twin. As you can imagine this really places us into that “high risk” category for Erica’s pregnancy. The doctor informed us that we really need to make it to the 24th week (Nov 23rd)…from that point, Erica would have to be admitted to the hospital and monitored around the clock until she delivers. So as you can imagine – we spent the day freaking out! “What are we gonna do?!?”

After a pretty stressed-out, and emotional day – we know that we have to trust that God won’t give us anything that we can’t handle. The majority of our stress right now just comes from the unknown. How are we gonna afford this…there is no way Erica can go back to work….we don’t even have a vehicle large enough for all of us…! Ahhh – too much to handle all at one time!
