—— Nephews & Pizza ——

We went over to my parent’s house the other night to see our nephews & have some pizza!  They live a couple hours from here, so we don’t see them as much as we’d like – but it was a treat to get to spend some time with them!  Here’s a few photos from the evening.

Check out those teeth!

With all the talk in the political primaries lately about the environment and what we are doing, got me thinking a bit more about it.  Here’s some interesting facts I found today:

–  Recycling saves energy: Creating a new aluminum can from scratch takes 95% more energy than making a can from recycled aluminum.

– The U.S. uses nearly $1 million worth of energy every minute.

– Power plants emit 40% of U.S. carbon dioxide pollution, the primary cause of global warming.

–  Only 10% of the energy used by an incandescent bulb produces light; the rest is given off as heat.

– If every American replaced just one light bulb with an Energy Star compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL), the energy saved could light more than 2.5 million homes for a year.

Now that is some food for thought.

—— One Image, Three Ways——

Today I was doing some processing of some images, and I thought I would try out a few “texture” shots.  A textured shot is basically combining a “regular” photo with another photo of something with “texture”.  Check out these shots below.  There are all done with the one texture image at the bottom – just processed each one of them different!

Here’s the textured image I used on these.  Believe it or not, it’s just a photo of a ceiling tile!

—— Painters Are Here ——

As many of you know, we moved back in May and our new house had all white walls – I mean EVERY wall was white! So we’ve been slowly adding our touches to the house making it more like a home. We’ve painted the office, the craft-room, the kitchen, both kids rooms, the kid’s bathroom & one guest bathroom as well! The entry into our home has ceilings that are near 35’ tall – so we thought it’d be best to hire out that job (it was also Erica’s Valentine gift)!!! These guys showed up at 8:15am and wrapped-up by 1:30pm!!! Check out these photos!

——Lunar Eclipse Tonight ——

Check out these images that I quickly grabbed from our front yard. These were taken with the D300, hand-held with the 80–200 f/2.8. They’re not the best – but the best I could do given what I had and the time I had to do it in! Here’s a website that will give you some interested facts from above: http://www.heavens-above.com/
